dubtrivia ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at dubtrivia.com (the "Service").   • Authentication credentials: If you sign up with email, we store a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL from Google.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Game data: Your answers, scores, hints used, streaks, and play history.
  • Social features: Friend connections you create within the Service.
  • Cookies and session data: We use cookies to manage authentication sessions. These are strictly functional cookies required for the Service to operate. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect payment information (the Service is free), precise geolocation data, or device sensor data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Authenticate you when you log in
  • Track your game results, streaks, and statistics
  • Enable social features such as friend connections and leaderboards
  • Enforce play-once-per-day rules
  • Improve and maintain the Service
  • Communicate with you about the Service (e.g., account-related emails)

4. Google OAuth Data

If you choose to sign in with Google, we request access to your basic profile information (name, email address, and profile picture). We use this data solely to create and manage your dubtrivia account. We do not access your Google contacts, calendar, drive, or any other Google services. You can revoke dubtrivia’s access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account settings.

5. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to manage your authentication session. These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. They do not track you across other websites. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party service providers to operate the Service:

  • Supabase: Provides our database and authentication infrastructure. Your account data and game results are stored on Supabase servers. See the Supabase Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel: Hosts our website and serves our application. See the Vercel Privacy Policy.
  • Google: Provides OAuth sign-in functionality. See the Google Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. Game results and statistics are retained to maintain your historical record and streaks. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), securely hashed passwords, and row-level security policies on our database. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Withdraw consent for the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information

10. Children’s Privacy

dubtrivia is open to users of all ages. However, if you are under the age of 16, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account for a minor, the parent or guardian agrees to this Privacy Policy on the minor’s behalf and accepts responsibility for the minor’s use of the Service.
